Fajr Festival to honor 'The Capital' director

Sirous Moqaddam, highly acclaimed director of hit series ‘The Capital’ and ‘Coma’ will be honored at the 37th annual Fajr Film Festival.

Moqaddam, who is currently working on a new horror series titled ‘Sleepy’, has directed over 17,000 minutes of TV productions.

The hit comedy series ‘The Capital’ has turned into Moqaddam’s most talked about series in Iran, producing five award-winning seasons and over 83 episodes.

Originally released in 2011, ‘The Capital’ depicts the story of a small-town Iranian family migrating from their hometown of Aliabad to the country’s capital, Tehran, and the ups and downs they face in their journey.

Later seasons featured the family’s travels to other locations including Turkey and Syria.

Directing his first feature film in 1991, Moqaddam became assistant director to Davoud Mir-Baqeri for his epic television series Imam Ali (AS).

He later went on to direct numerous series, many of which were aired on ifilm including: ‘Madineh’, ‘The Redemption’, ‘Michael’, ‘The Wall’, ‘Until Being with Sorayya’, ‘The Days of Life’, ‘Coma’, and ‘Floating in a Bubble’.

ifilm is scheduled to air Moqaddam’s ‘Day of Envy’ Thursday January 3, 2019, following the final episode of ‘The Recluse’.

The Fajr International Film Festival is an annual event held on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, celebrating Iranian cinema. This year’s festival will be held from January 30-February 11, 2019 commemorating the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
